Jim Christianson served Montana grain producers for 26 years as executive vice-president of the Montana Wheat & Barley Committee. He is noted throughout the industry for his advocacy of Montana farmers who are captive shippers and for his thoroughness in dealing with multiple foreign trade missions who visit the state each year. He retired in December 2004.

The Montana Grains Foundation will establish a scholarship for young Montana students in honor of Jim. An original painting entitled ‘Sentinels of the Prairie’ was commissioned from Montana artist Jeff Walker to help raise funds for the scholarship.
