Planting Seeds. Growing Food. Finding Balance.

Two plus two equals four. It’s one of the first equations we ever learn, and I’ve always thought it’s also a pretty good way to think about balance. As farmers, we’re constantly trying to make the pieces add up: rising input costs, uncertain markets, family, succession and the future of our operations.

That thinking inspired the theme for this year’s Montana Grain Growers Association Annual Convention & Trade Show: Planting Seeds. Growing Food. Finding Balance.

This December, we’re bringing growers together for two days focused on the things that matter to Montana farms. We’ll explore markets and profitability, technology and innovation, regenerative agriculture, changing consumer trends, estate planning and generational transition, along with a closer look at the connection between what we grow and the food that ultimately reaches the table.

We’re also adding some fun along the way, including a bread-making contest featuring Montana-grown grains and an antique farm equipment and farm toy display that celebrates the generations and innovation that brought agriculture to where it is today.

More than anything, convention is an opportunity to learn from one another. A speaker, a conversation over coffee or an idea shared between growers can plant a seed that leads to a better decision back home.
